Event 18: Upscaling and Modelling of Coupled Transport Processes in the Subsurface

Document Actions
The focus of this workshop is on upscaling techniques for (coupled) surface flows and transport proceesses.

In this workshop various upscaling techniques applicable to coupled surface flows and transport modelling have been presented. For a proper description and modelling of complex processes in the multi-scale heterogeneous subsurface, an appropriate method for transfer of information between variuos spatial scales is crucial. Topics included homogenisation, upscaling using pore-scale network models, numerical upscaling of multiphase low, upscaling and non-linear coupled processes, upscaling from the molecular level to continuum to macroscale, PDE modelling of subsurface processes, the mathematical and numerical modelling of transport processes in the subsurface with emphasis on heterogeneities.

Fellowships
45 fellowships are offered to young participants to attend the course: 37 Group 1, 7 Group 2 and 1 Group 3.
