[POSTPONED TO 2006] Event 10: Simulation Methods for Membranes I: Polymeric Membranes
The aim of the workshop is to review microscopic computational methods needed to investigate transport properties of neutral and charged particles within polymeric membranes, and to foresee new effective simulation strategies for the design of innovative membranes.
[POSTPONED TO 2006] Polymeric membranes are of strategic importance for both the development of proton conducting materials to be used in fuel cell technology, and for separation membranes to be used for pollutant cleaning in mixtures. The topics of the workshop will range from classical Molecular Dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations (both of equilibrium and non-equilibrium), to hybrid methods also able to include quantum effects such as the Grotthus-type proton transfer mechanism.
