Partnership

Up one level
The partnership of the project consists of a well balanced combination of universities and semi-public and private training bodies, and research centres. All partners are leading institutions in Europe in the field of applied scientific computing, and are internationally recognized for their scientific achievements in the field. They work on a collaboration policy since a long time and have always considered a key issue the dissemination of knowledge on the use of numerical and computing techniques and the transfer of these technologies to new application areas.
Partnership TCN
The TCN Consortium, project coordinator, was founded in 2001, officially as a Consortium Society with Limited Responsibility. Founding members are: the CRS4 of Cagliari, EnginSoft of Trento, the Fiat Research Center in Orbassano and the ITC-IRST of Trento. The Consortium's objective is the promotion of training activities at various levels relating to the disciplines that adhere to CAE (Computer Aided Engineering), virtual prototyping and testing, numerical simulations, iDP (Intelligent Digital Prototyping), and disciplines which complement or traverse these fields.
Partnership CRS4
CRS4, Center for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia, is a not-for-profit consortium of public and private companies. The shareholders are Consorzio Ventuno (as delegate for theRegion of Sardinia), IBM-Italia, STMicroelecronics, the University of Cagliari, the University of Sassari, SARAS S.p.A. and Tiscali S.p.A. Founded in 1990 and beginning operations in 1991, CRS4 is today the principal point of reference for Polaris for research and development activities based on information technology, computer networking and high performance computing. CRS4's research activities are concentrated on the development of enabling technologies in physical modelling, mathematical modelling and computer science in high priority areas recognized as strategic at the regional, national and European levels. The principal applications are in the sectors of energy, environmental science, life sciences and the information society. The activities of CRS4 are carried out by a group of about eighty researchers and technicians, sited at the Scientific Park at Pula.
Partnership CISM
CISM, the International Centre For Mechanical Sciences in Udine, Italy, is a non-profit research institution with approx. 10 full-time employees. It was founded in 1968 by European scientists to favour the exchange and application of the most advanced knowledge in the mechanical sciences and related fields. CISM is international in both scope and structure: the Scientific Council, rectors, lecturers are selected from among the acknowledged authorities in their respective fields the world over.
Partnership Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics
The Von Karmann Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI) is an international non profit organization for post graduate education and research in fluid dynamics, formed in 1956. The educational programme based on the concept of training in research by research includes a one year post graduate programme in fluid dynamics attended yearly by 30-35 students and a PhD research program involving continuously 30-35 candidates. Permanent staff is about 95 in total.Initially, research and training activities were essentially experimental and concentrated on aeronautical applications, but theoretical, and later computational research rapidly developed, and the research scope expanded also to non-aeronautical flow applications of industrial interest (e.g. pollutant dispersal, sprays, two phase flows, plasma flows ...).
Partnership CNR - IAC
The Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) is the italian national public organisation which develops and co-ordinates scientific and technological research. This research network co-operates with universities and industries and encourages them to work together. Thanks to recent restructuring, the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) is now highly able to respond to the national demand for scientific advancement, reinforce its role in the international scientific community, and increase its co-operation activities with European partners.
Partnership Utrecht University
Located in the heart of the Netherlands, Utrecht University is firmly founded on tradition. Utrecht University, which will soon celebrate its 370th anniversary, has developed into one of Europe's largest and most prominent institutes of research and education. With 47 Bachelor's programmes and 162 Master's programmes, Utrecht University offers the broadest spectrum of disciplines available in the Netherlands, innovative research and liaises with universities and research centres all over the world.
Partnership CIMNE
The CIMNE (International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering) is one of the first autonomous research and development centers created (1987) by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Autonomous Government of Catalonia) and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC, Technical University of Catalonia), under the auspices of the UNESCO. In the last fifteen year period CIMNE has promoted training and research activities and technology transfer in an international context. Although a public institution, over 90% of its funding stems from non-publics sources. CIMNE employs currently some 150 scientists and engineers from different technical fields and nationalities (over 15 different countries), working in the development and application of numerical methods (basically the finite element method) to a wide class of computational engineering problems, but lately also computational finance, insurance and food technologies.
